| Discussion | • Benign (WHO Grade 1) slow growing glioneuronal tumors arising from either cortical or deep grey matter • Epidemiology Children or young adults In 90% of cases, the first seizure occurred before the age of 20 • Clinical presentation Subacute, wide variety of brainstem symptoms Cognitively intact and do not suffer from other signs of inflammation (e.g. fever or sweats) Often, relapsing-remitting course without treatment • MRI T1: generally hypointense compared with adjacent brain T1 C+ (Gd): no or minimal enhancement T2: generally high signal, "bubbly appearance" FLAIR: mixed-signal intensity with “bright rim sign” T2*: calcification relatively frequent DWI: no restricted diffusion |
