Discussion Infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis: almost always secondary to hematogenous spread (often pulmonary)
- tuberculous meningitis
- localized parenchymal infection(tuberculoma) (common)
TB abscess (rare)

TB meningoencephalitis
- 1.3 % of all TB cases
- 6.3% of extrapulmonary TB cases.

Radiologic findings
- Basilar meningitis + extracerebral TB (pulmonary)
- Meningitis (basal cisterns > cerebral sulci) + parenchymal lesions: highly suggestive
- Tuberculoma
- supratentiorial parenchyma (m/c)
- usually low T2, strong enhancement (solid or ring-enhancing)
