Discussion Osteolytic lesion with granulomatous reaction surrounding cholesterol crystals
Epidemiology
- Male predominance, Young or middle age
Pathogenesis: not well known for orbital lesion
- Hemorrhage: probable source of cholesterol
- Remote Trauma or diploic anomaly.
Radiologic Findings>
CT
- Non-calcified extraconal mass, superotemporal aspect.
expansile, lytic bone defect with ragged bone destruction
- homogeneous attenuation with a density equal brain
and muscle
- No enhancement
MRI
- signal of high intensity on both T1- and T2-WI
- interspersion of either septations or foci of low signal
