-Pneumocephalus is defined as intracranial air. The majority of pneumocephalus cases are due to trauma. Non-traumatic spontaneous pneumocephalus is an uncommon condition, with common causes including barotraumas, valsalva maneuvers, adjacent air sinus infections, post-radiation necrosis and neoplasm .

-Pneumosinus dilatans (PSD) refers to an abnormally enlarged, air-filled paranasal sinus without radiologic evidence of localized bone destruction, hyperostosis, or mucous membrane thickening.
