| Discussion | Imaging of cerebritis, encephalitis and brain abscess -The most common sources of brain abscess include: otomastoiditis, sinusitis, odontogenic abscess, hematogenous dissemination from a distant source and neurosurgical complication. - Brain abscess: restricted diffusion within a centrally T2 hyperintense ring enhancing mass - Infectious encephalitis: viral infection (m/c), in patients complaining of fever and headache, altered mental, MR findings of encephalitis are highly variable according to the offending organism and patient age. |
