| Discussion | **Terminology Previously accepted as a subtype of inflammatory pseudotumor. Possible neoplastic counterpart of inflammatory pseudotumor ALK gene translocation lead to neoplastic lesion rather than a reactive process. **Clinical manifestation Slowly growing, unilateral neck swelling **Imaging A mass encasing the carotid bifurcation with no increased vascularity Vessel narrowing may be seen. On magnetic resonance imaging the mass has a relatively low T2-signal **Treatment and prognosis The treatment of pseudotumor includes use of steroids, but a definitive diagnosis often requires surgery.
