| Discussion | Venous infarct associated with DVA (developmental venous anomaly) Developmental venous anomalies (DVAs) are congenital venous malformations of cerebrovascular system characterized by dilated medullary veins along with central veins and lack of associated feeding arteries. DVAs rarely produce symptoms; therefore, in most cases they are diagnosed incidentally. Nonetheless, they rarely cause symptoms due to either mechanical compression to adjacent intracranial structures, which may result in hydrocephalus, tinnitus, hemifacial spasms, and trigeminal neuralgia or misbalance of blood flow. The misbalance of blood flow can develop secondary to arteriovenous malformation draining to a DVA, microshunts leading to arterialization, and restriction of venous drainage by a stenosis or thrombosis. 참고문헌 J Neuroimaging. 2011 Apr;21(2):197-201 |
