| Discussion | 진단명: Laryngocele Laryngocele is an abnormal dilation of the laryngeal saccule that extends upward within the false vocal fold, in communication with the laryngeal lumen. Laryngocele maintains its communication with the lumen, whereas a laryngeal saccular cyst is a mucus-filled dilation of the saccule that does not communicate with the laryngeal lumen. Laryngoceles have been classified as internal, external, or combined according to their relationships with the thyrohyoid membrane. An internal laryngocele is confined within the false vocal fold, medial to the thyrohyoid membrane. An external laryngocele extends upward and protrudes through the thyrohyoid membrane to the neck. A combination of internal and external laryngoceles, both medial and lateral to the thyrohyoid membrane, is called combined laryngocele. Laryngoceles commonly present with dysphonia or a swelling in the neck. Typically, this swelling becomes more prominent during Valsalva maneuver. The other symptoms related to laryngoceles include dyspnea, cough, inspiratory stridor, dysphagia, and foreign body sensation in the throat. Possible management of laryngocele is surgical resection or endoscopic resection with CO2 laser. Reference 1. Dursun G, Ozgursoy OB, Beton S, Batikhan H.
